With so many distinct types of massage, it may be difficult to decide what you need, or even what each type involves! While you may be used to the typical Swedish or deep tissue offerings, the Spa also offers reflexology.
You may be asking yourself, what exactly is reflexology?
Simply put, reflexology is a type of body work that uses acupressure points in the feet to bring balance and wellness to the rest of the body. Acupressure, not to be confused with acupuncture, or the use of small needles on the body, is the use of manual pressure, typically from the hands to increase the flow of energy through the meridians, or energy pathways, in the body. It has a beneficial effect on body organs and general health and is also an effective way to alleviate stress.
In general, reflexology tends to be relaxing and enjoyable, but can also be uncomfortable at times when (and where) the body is out of balance. Typically, reflexology is done on the feet. This means that for your appointment you just need to come in ready to take off your shoes and socks, recline on the massage table with a cozy blanket and enjoy allowing us to work on your feet.
You can get reflexology as often as you like! Just like with massage, your body will tell you if/when you need it. Some people like to schedule regularly and take care of their body just like they would schedule oil changes or tire rotations for their car.
So, which is better: reflexology or body massage?
Both are GREAT! It’s simply a matter of preference. It’s like having to choose your favorite flavor of ice cream; so many types of bodywork are amazing that it’s hard to choose just one!
Reflexology services are currently available for 30-minute ($55-$60), 45-minute ($70-$75), or 60-minute ($85-$90) appointments.
